Sania Mirza… whose opinion are we seeking on pre-marital sex? An 18-year-old’s?

Sania Mirza… whose opinion are we seeking on pre-marital sex? An 18-year-old’s?

WHOSE fault is it if Sania Mirza is asked issue-raising questions that are normally put before mature and experienced women of the world and then her answers are taken out of context and a big controversy is made out of them? Not hers, certainly; but definitely the jokers who went to her with the questions in the first place.

This is a problem with us.We take somebody, make them so important that they start believing in their bigness, and then we drop them with a thud when they don’t do or say the things we want done and said. As if they were our official spokespersons and meant to express views that were politically correct.

Sania has a bright future, says McNamara

NEW DELHI, Nov. 23. — Three-time Grand Slam Open champion Peter McNamara today predicted that India’s teen tennis sensation Sania Mirza will break into top 10 in the world rankings by 2007.

“Sania deserves better than number 30. She just needs to work hard. Sky is the limit for her. I see her there by 2007, if not earlier,” said the former world No. 7. “She has so much charisma and flair in her game that one loves to watch her play. She may not be Sharapova or Davenport, but one likes to watch her even if she loses because of her flair,” he added.
